A Tale of Two Quays: Singapore Meets Sydney

We are very thrilled to introduce this design collaboration with Extraordinary Ordinary Day, a statement shoes designer based in Sydney.

This cool collaboration was facilitated by Singapore Tourism Board, in conjunction with Singapore: Inside Out, an international and experiential showcase that recognises Singapore's top creative talents from a spectrum of disciplines and serves as a platform for multi-disciplinary and cross-national collaborations. Inaugurated in 2015 as a travelling showcase to Beijing, London, New York city before a homecoming, the 2017 edition will continue to shine the spotlight on local creative talents on an international stage – this time in Tokyo and Sydney.

Together with Ms Ashley Lim- the principal designer of EOD, we created ' A Tale of Two Quays'. The design is inspired by both Singapore’s and Sydney’s historical quays, landmark architectures, unique urban elements, local stories and native trees.

Both Singapore’s Boat Quay and The Rocks in Sydney are the waterfront neighbourhood and tourist precinct, which boasts historical significance and is an integral part of both cities’ origin and growth. From a squalid waterfront, these two localities have evolved into a bustling iconic precinct, full of cafes, restaurants and cultural activities for both locals and visitors alike.

The bumboats, ubiquitous to Singapore River and Sydney ferries that are inseparable elements of the city harbour weave the story along with native trees: Yellow Flame from Singapore and Jacarandas from Sydney.

Featured in the story, Extraordinary Ordinary Day (EOD) shoes are our warm invitation to explore these two extraordinary cities in your extraordinary shoes; after all, good shoes take you to good places.
