Nonya Table - The Back Story

Posted by on

We are proud to present our first-ever collaboration with The Intan – an award-winning private Peranakan museum run by Alvin Yapp. Growing up in a Peranakan household, we hold this beautiful culture close to our hearts. Binary Style is thrilled to join hands with The Intan to create an exquisite table linen collection for you right in time for the holidays.

The Nonya Table is inspired by elements of Peranakan porcelain ware from the Intan collection and their auspicious symbols. Phoenix and peonies are featured prominently in this collection. Quintessential to the Peranakan culture, described as the king of birds, the phoenix only appears in times of peace and abundance, an auspicious symbol for the home.

The peonies, fondly known as the ‘Flower of Wealth and Prosperity’ (富贵花, fùguìhuā), represent feminine beauty, good fortune and nobility. The perfect pairing of the phoenix and peonies thus symbolises harmony and well being!

The collection features delightful Peranakan colours that will liven up any dining table. A true conversation starter!

This collection includes a table runner (150x35cm), placemats (35x40cm) and napkin (45x45cm). All items are made of premium cotton linen material.
